OUR ENGINEERING COMPETITION HAS STARTED – VPU QUADRATHON WEEK 1

We are one week into the challenge and our competitors are very energetic and motivated. All the teams managed to finish the first major challenge – the designing and configuration of Graphical Displays (HMI), reading of P&IDs and signal lists.

THE BEGINNING

On DAY 1 the teams went through brief training and presentation. They learned some basic techniques and tools that they will need during the competition. The teams also took our VPU entrance test – Automation and English basic knowledge. Our competitors showed surprisingly good results and skills.

Just before heading to the bar and drink some beer with the rest of VPU core members, the teams had to finish another logical challenge that gave bonus points to the winners – Team PID.

Every morning the competitors go thru meetings with some of the VPU core team where they discuss what is the progress of their work, what questions they have and how to solve the problems that occurred during the work process.

THE RESULTS SO FAR

After the first week, Team PID and Team MTR finished with draw result of 20 points each. The maximum points for week 1 challenge is 24, so both teams were pretty close. Team MGV finished with 16 points, but they will have plenty of time and opportunity to get to the first place.

Next two weeks are going to be even more challenging, since the teams will have to program, test and commission our "Feed Water System" test station.

VPU is verry happy to see that we have so talented and eager to learn young and promising students. The competition is very strong and the results are going to be unpredictable until the end.
